Daniel, USMC recruit

My son is 18 his name is Daniel Varela. He graduated from High School on June 1, 2012. He was a good kid never got into any trouble had good grades could have done anything with his life. He chose to serve our country and become a US Marine. He left and took my heart, wishes and prayers with him on July 16th to boot camp in San Diego. It never hit me like it did that day, pride, saddnes all at once but the most important thing was the found admiration for his self less couragous choice to serve. he has not graduated he isnt a Marine-yet but he is already my Hero. I was once the person he looked up to as a hero in his youth now we swap roles.

I included three pictures, one is inside MEPS Houston, Texas during the oath and right after. The other is him about to board the bus with so many other young Heroes. No fear in his eyes. My Hero, my son USMC Recruit Daniel Varela.
