Lt. Erika Barnes USN
Erika joined the NAVY in April 2010. Both the Navy and Army vied for her but the Navy won out. She attended Rutgers University and graduated from Drexel University's Physician Assistant Program in 2009. Her thesis was on Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome during Wartime. Part of her Clinical Studies was done at Fort Lewis, Washington.
In 2011, she was deployed to Afghanistan with the Marines and assigned to the Shock/Trauma Surgical Company at Camp Delaram, Helmand Province.
She has a great compassion to help children and people and it was no surprise that she bought toys and soccer balls for the Afghan kids. She even initiated a shoe drive for the children in Afghanistan and over 50 kids benefited from our efforts to get the shoes to her in Helmand Province.
Her home base is San Diego, California and she is now in charge of the Acute Care Clinic for the Marine Recruits.
